Alerts
Getting told when a number moves, instead of having to remember to check.
Alerts watch a number for you and tell you when it crosses a line you have set. You do not have to open the app to find out something has changed.
What you can watch
- Daily revenue — above or below an amount
- Daily orders — above or below a count
- Average order value — above or below an amount
- Units sold — above or below a count
- Conversion rate — below a percentage
Conversion rate can only be set as a drop. A conversion rate going up is not a problem you need waking for.
Setting a sensible threshold
The most common mistake is setting the line too close to normal. An alert that fires most days stops being information and turns into noise you learn to ignore.
Look at the last month first and pick a number you would genuinely want to know about. For a drop alert, that usually means clearly below your worst ordinary day, not slightly below your average.
How you are told
Alerts arrive by email, and as a push notification if you have turned notifications on for this device.
Alerts do not fix anything
An alert tells you a number moved. It cannot tell you why. When one fires, the Profit and Loss and Conversion Funnel screens are usually the fastest way to find out what happened.
